Why is it called the promethium project? You may be wondering why I called my web journal the promethium project. First I choose the element promethium because its atomic symbol of Pm is similar to my last name of Palmer. I also wanted to use an element because as a youth one of my favorite comics was IRON MAN, and I didn't want to put somebody else’s registered trademark on my web site so I tried to create my own IRON MAN or in this case the blue green promethium man. Promethium is a radioactive element that glows with a bluish green tint, hence the color of the suit. If you know anything about IRON MAN he was a very intelligent man and worked with technology, I also like to work with technology. As a physical science teacher I also wanted to use an element because that is part of what I teach. Once I had decided on the element promethium I did some research on the name of the element for my own curiosity? As it turned out promethium was named for the Greek god Prometheus. Now I am not into Greek gods but I found the story interesting that Prometheus in legend was responsible for giving mortal man knowledge. As a teacher trying to give students knowledge there seemed to be another connection so I decided to create a web page and call it the promethium project. Currently I have three web pages that I am working with under the promethium name there is my first web page which is a blog through the UMESD, the second is a Dreamweaver based and is stored on the SOESD, and my newest web page is a blog under the google umbrella. Each of these web pages serve a different purpose but hopefully all of them can be useful to people so that I can teach to a larger and larger audience.
