Plugins

Online learning requires your computer to be set up to access various types of interactive multimedia content. Below are several links that will check your computer's ability to access files such as Flash, various movie and sound files, and Adobe Acrobat pdf documents.

NOTE 1: If you are working on any computer other than your own (at school, the public library, or even a friend's house!), please ASK PERMISSION before downloading and installing anything!

NOTE 2: Always go for the FREE version of a plugin such as QuickTime or RealPlayer, and install with a minimum of checked boxes--who needs all that spam email, anyway?

NOTE 3: All of these procedures will need to be followed for EACH computer on which you access your course!

BEGIN TESTING by accessing the following link. These test for browser compatibility and settings, as well as a number of plugins. Then follow any instructions provided:

Browser System Check NOTE: This will open a new browser window. Click on the "Check your computer's settings" link at the bottom of the page, this will check for compatibility with Pearson/Prentice Hall online.

Pop-ups

A pop-up is a small window that suddenly appears ("pops up") in the foreground of your screen when you are surfing the Internet. Many people install little programs called popup blockers to prevent annoying popup ads. Popup blockers, while nice for general web surfing, often prevent student access to interactive multimedia course content. Use the following link to help disable your computer's pop-up blockers:

If you need help with controlling pop-ups, try this Anti-Pop-up Page - be sure to scroll down!

If you have followed all the instructions above and you are still experiencing difficulty accessing course content, please call our Help Desk at 1-866-858-6730, 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
